Revision to RDA Testing Policy

We’ve recently received information about a revision to the RDA testing policy that we had posted a few weeks ago. You should be able to find the updated information here: http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/RDAtest/rdatest.html

** Note: The update may not be posted yet on the Library of Congress site, it is dated Sept. 2010.

The important aspects of the revision in terms of Authority Control are:

  • The second indicator for the 7XX fields is to be 4 not 7.
  • There will not be a $2 added to the 7XX either
  • Russian Ligatures in MARC

    We have had a few other libraries ask about the Russian ligatures since there seems to be several inconsistencies with how these diacritics are coded in LC’s authority records.  A couple of months ago, one of our programmers was looking into this issue.  Here is the information that he found: (more…)
