v2009.02aIn this thread, I will attempt to catalog the changes that I have made with each edition of the MPG. I will put the most recent changes
first followed by the
version number (found on the back of every MPG).
In the other thread [
link], you can list all the changes you would like to see in the next version of the MPG.

Historical Notes, Examples:
- Changed text from all bold to selective bold
- If everything is bolded, it's difficult to see what should be standing out
Giant Numbers Occluding Text:
- Changed the text that used to overlay the giant image numbers for each Step
- Now, the text overlays the image with a white background and image "disappears" behind the text
Pre-2001 & Post-2000 LCCN Tables:
- Created tables for the Structure A & Structure B LCCN Tables so it is easier to tell which position belongs to which set of data
Record Format Table:
- Added the Record Format Table, which lists the criteria the system uses to determine what is a book or a map or so forth
Initial Articles in Sub $a & $t:
- Rearranged (on the page) how these two mini-tables display
- Before, the Subfield $t mini-table was below the Subfield $a, which gave the impression that only the Subfield $t was checked during the initial article phase
Added Mini-Index to Top of Each Page:
- It used to be that only the page numbers were displayed on the top of each page
- Page numbers have not changed location, but now a mini-index [e.g., 3.6 - Trace All Series] appears at top of each page, too
- Mini-index contents reflect what is main point for each respective page
Index at Back:
- Added Index to the back of the MPG
- Ultimately we decided to be very thorough with this index as it is better to find what you are looking for, than to not find it
