Revision to RDA Testing Policy

We’ve recently received information about a revision to the RDA testing policy that we had posted a few weeks ago. You should be able to find the updated information here: http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/RDAtest/rdatest.html

** Note: The update may not be posted yet on the Library of Congress site, it is dated Sept. 2010.

The important aspects of the revision in terms of Authority Control are:

  • The second indicator for the 7XX fields is to be 4 not 7.
  • There will not be a $2 added to the 7XX either

    Russian Ligatures in MARC

    New Optional Report (R08 Generic Names)

    Adding to Authorities

    Sometimes a national authority record just lacks some of the key information that your library needs. Maybe it’s an important cross-reference, a note, or some sort of field identifier. If you just receive the latest Library of Congress authority, for example, you could lose all that hard work that you and your staff have gone through to find the information and add it to your authorities.
