If you have any questions about any of these options, or would like to discuss setting up a custom process for your records, give one of our project managers a call at (800) 288-1265.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>RDA bib = 040 $e contains \u201crda\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #1 \u2013 AACR2 &amp; RDA =&gt; AARC2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 default option<em> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Ignores 7XX x4 in AACR2 master &amp; ignores RDA master altogether<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>All bibs are treated as AACR2 records, even the RDA bibs (must contain 040 $e rda).\u00a0 RDA headings are searched against the AACR2 master only and any 7XX x4 fields in the LC authorities are ignored as a match point.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #2 \u2013 Separate out RDA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Ignores 7XX x4 in AACR2 master and ignores RDA master altogether<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>We pull out your RDA bibs for now and hold onto them for RDA processing later, if you prefer.\u00a0 The remaining bibs are searched against the AACR2 master.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #3 \u2013 AACR2 =&gt; AACR2, RDA =&gt; RDA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Matches and flips to 7XX x4 in AACR2 master, also matches on RDA master<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>We search headings from your AACR2 bibs against the AACR2 master, and headings from your RDA bibs against the RDA master.\u00a0 For AACR2 bibs, the 7XX x4 is ignored and <em>not<\/em> used as a match point.\u00a0 Our system copies all AACR2 authorities that have 7XX x4 into our RDA master, so your RDA bib headings are searched against these fields: 1XX, 4XX, and 7XX x4.\u00a0 Matches found in the RDA master are flipped to the 7XX x4 form as that field is considered the valid form.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #3.5 \u2013 unmatched AACR2 =&gt; RDA, unmatched RDA =&gt; AACR2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Similar to #3 above, except unmatched are searched against the other respective database<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>If an AACR2 heading finds no match against the AACR2 master in option #3, this option will check that unmatched heading against the RDA master and flip to that form if found.\u00a0 Likewise, an unmatched RDA heading will be searched against the AACR2 master, potentially resulting in a flip to the AACR2 form.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #4 \u2013 AACR2 &amp; RDA =&gt; AACR2 (modified)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Matches on 7XX x4 in AACR2 master but flips to 1XX form, also ignores RDA master altogether<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>All of your bibs (both AACR2 &amp; RDA) are searched against AACR2 master only.\u00a0 This option differs from #1 in that the 7XX x4 in AACR2 master is included for matching purposes only.\u00a0 The matched heading will be flipped to the 1XX in the AACR2 master.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #4.5 \u2013 unmatched AACR2 =&gt; RDA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Similar to #4 above, except unmatched (both AACR2 &amp; RDA) are matched against RDA master only<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>If an AACR2 or RDA heading finds no match against the modified AACR2 master in option #4, this option will check that unmatched heading against the RDA master.\u00a0 At this point in the process, the RDA master will consist of new RDA authorities with no equivalent in the AACR2 master (i.e., no 7XX x4 field is present).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following is a clear and concise summary of the main options we have for handling RDA and AACR2 bibliographic records and matching against RDA or AACR2 Authority records.
