This fixed field position indicates the form of the catalogued item. It can include:
- blank - none of the following
- a - microfilm
- b - microfiche
- c - microopaque/microcard
- d - large print
- f - braille
- r - regular print reproduction (eye-readable print, such as a photocopy, Xerox, facsimile)
- s - electronic
- | - no attempt to code
Choosing to verify on the 008 position 23 allows for stricter matching parameters, especially in cases where the collection contains large print and electronic data.
Defaults
The default for verifying on the 008 position 23 within Hit Group 1 (010/020/022) is as follows:
- Do not use as a verify when potential match is found using the 010, 020 or 022
