RDA 3.3: CMC Processing
Content, Media, Carrier
To add 33X fields with the appropriate RDA Content, Media, and Carrier terms, the MARS 2.0 processing utilizes over 600 individual rules in order to properly map to the most correct set of 33X fields for the record. For instance, there are over 100 rules dedicated solely to electronic resources. If present, GMDs are used in the vetting process, as well as 006, 007, and 008 fixed field positions.
You can specify whether you would like to exclude any or all of the 33X fields from being generated as part of the mapping between 245 $h GMD and 33X Content, Media, and Carrier types.
